Just Recently EFC Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell sat down with Alastair Bishop Host of ‘Big Al Podcast’ and the 2 had quite an Informative Chat. Breaking down the Upcoming EFC58 fight card and talking about Athletes in the organization, New Signings, & Graeme being so generous left us with some good bits to look forward too.
Firstly on the agenda, Graeme addressed Middleweight Champion Yannick Bahati, taking a fight for the BAMMA Middleweight Championship on a Quest to make history & to be a 2 promotion world Champ. Graeme explained “this is a 2 fight deal & the promotion allowed Yannick the opportunity to Fight at BAMMA which is great as he gets to make more revenue and currently relationships between BAMMA and EFC are positive” Graeme expects the Brit to be back in South African Shores in August defending his belt against a “Massive Opponent”. Graeme’s face lit up like a kid on Christmas when mentioning Bahati’s next fight would be insanely Massive. Despite negativity cast towards the organization by naysayers, this shows exactly how flexible the organization is & putting the Athletes interests first. Another example in the Case of Featherweight Azi Thomas who recently fought at ACB promotion, The Welshmen is set to return at EFC 59 to take on Pierre Botha, who is on the back of a win in a fight of the night performance.
Cartmell also discussed the conundrum at light Heavyweight, as prospect Chad Hanekom has made a decision to withdraw from a Title bout with Champion Dalcha, as the South African may be seeking to fight International Athletes in the EFC and perhaps doesn’t see Champion as a threat. Graeme spoke positive of the Athlete and respected his decision, but remained focused on keeping the Champion Active, by sourcing an opponent for him possibly in May. The Matchmaker then moved on to reveal the first Women’s Flyweight Title will be up for Grabs in EFC 60 at Sibaya in KZN which will see Lino vs Trosee and Durban Fans can look forward to that card being filled with Durban Talent.
With regards to EFC 59, they highlighted that the promotion is working closely with Fadipe to ensure smooth sailing on his Visa to Ensure he will arrive to take on Dricus Du Plessis in what is touted as the most anticipated Title fight in current EFC history. The MMA world has massive expectations of this fight and all depends on weather Fadipe will arrive. Cartmell explained that Fadipes Nigerian and Brittish heritage can cause quite a stir when it comes to Visas.
The Matchmaker highlighted Fighters to look forward to stepping back in the HEX are Marino Cutendana, Gideon Droski, & Francois Groenewald amongst a few. With 10 Shows to put on this year Matchmaker Graeme Cartmell has a Mammoth task ahead of him with putting on the best fight cards for fans, working around fight cancellations & yet he still has time for a sit down chat.
